Rules for how the TELUS Refer a friend program works:

Referrer:

  1. TELUS customers will need to log in with their My TELUS credentials to access the referral program website
  2. On the referral program website, an existing customer can send a referral to non-TELUS customers through e-mail, SMS, social post, or Facebook message
  3. Once the referral is sent, the friend/family member will receive an email prompting them to sign up to the referral program.
  4. All referrals needs to be claimed by the referee before activating a new TELUS consumer mobility account in order to be eligible for the referral credit. This includes new accounts or secondary lines being added to an existing TELUS consumer account.
  5. If your friend/family member activates a new in-market postpaid consumer mobility account, you will receive a onetime bill credit. Bill credits may vary by province. You can refer an unlimited number of people but will only receive bill credits for a maximum of 6 successful referrals per year. Referees who are referred past the referrers 6 referral maximum will continue to receive the referral credit. Bill credits are applied within 4 weeks of process completion and will appear on you and your friend/family member's next bill.

Friend:

  1. Once the referral email is received, the friend/family member has 15 days to "claim the offer" and sign up to the referral program.
  2. The referral must be claimed before an activation takes place to be eligible. The friend/family member must join TELUS on a new in-market postpaid consumer mobility plan. This program is only available for new TELUS mobility customers.
  3. After activation, the friend/family member will need to log in to My TELUS to verify their account. They can do this by clicking the link in the email they received after claiming their offer or by visiting telus.com/refer and entering their new TELUS mobility phone number. This step must be completed within 30 days of initial offer claim.
  4. Bill credits are applied within 4 weeks of process completion and will appear on you and your friend/family member's next bill.

For customers activating a new account with TELUS Mobility or adding a new mobility subscription to an existing TELUS account:

  1. Click "Claim Offer" in the first referral email received. You have 15 days to claim the offer from receiving the email. You must claim the offer before activating.
  2. Enter your name and email address and agree to terms & conditions on the Refer a friend website.
  3. Buy a, or bring your own, phone or SIM card and activate on a monthly postpaid consumer mobility account within 30 days of "claiming" the referral.
  4. Return to telus.com/refer or the Instructions email and enter your new TELUS phone number to complete the referral and redeem your offer.

FAQ – for Referrers (Existing TELUS customers)

Who can I refer?

You can refer friends or family who are currently not TELUS Mobility customers. Referrals are also valid if Referrer and Friend are on the same account. Connected accessories, including smart watch and tablet, and Wireless Home Phone not eligible to participate in this program. TELUS team members, contractors, sales representatives acting on TELUS's behalf, and associates at retail locations who receive special pricing are excluded from this Program.

Can I refer someone who wants to bring their own device to TELUS?

Yes. The person you refer must activate a monthly (postpaid) plan, and can either buy a phone from TELUS or bring their own device. Either way; you will both get a bill credit for a successful referral. Bill credit value may vary by province

How do I make a referral?

To make a referral, visit telus.com/refer and log into the Refer a friend portal or sign in to your My TELUS account and look for the Refer a Friend offer in the "Offers" tab 


I don't have a My TELUS account, how can I set it up?

Visit telus.com/mytelus and follow the instructions to set up your My TELUS account.

How many friends can I refer?

There is no limit to the number of referrals you can send to your friends and family. However, you will receive referral credits for a maximum of 6 successful referrals per calendar year, including those to your own account. Referees who are referred past the referrers 6 referral maximum will continue to receive the referral credit.


What does my friend or family member need to do to claim and collect the referral offer?

For customers activating a new account with TELUS Mobility or adding a new mobility subscription to an existing TELUS account:

No, in order to qualify for a referral credit, your friend/family member must be a new TELUS customer who activated after they were sent and claimed the referral.


How do I qualify for a referral reward?

You must be a current TELUS Mobility customer with a consumer postpaid account with no overdue amount at time of referral.

How long does it take for the referral bill credit to be applied to my account?

The referral bill credits will be applied within 4 weeks of your friend or family member activating their service with TELUS and completing the referral steps successfully. If you add a friend or family member to your account, both bill credits will be applied to your primary account.


Will you give out my friends or family member's contact information?

How do I claim and collect the referral?

How long are referrals valid for?

Once you receive your referral, you will have 15 days to claim your offer (by entering your name and email address and agreeing to the Terms and Conditions on the referral program claim offer form). After you have registered for the Refer a friend program and claimed your referral offer, you have 30 days to: (1) buy a phone or SIM card and activate on a postpaid consumer plan; and (2) return to the referral site using the email sent to you and input your new TELUS mobility phone number

If I was referred by more than one person, can I get more than one credit?

No. You can only claim one referral offer.

How can I see if I have received my referral bill credit?

We will send you an email after your referral has been approved and you have earned a bill credit as a result of the referral. Your referral credits will show up on your bill within 4 weeks of receiving this email. If a referral is not approved, you will receive an email stating it hasn't been approved. You can also log into the Refer a friend program by visiting telus.com/refer and check the status of your referrals.


Can prepaid customers participate in the referral program?

No. You must be a TELUS postpaid customer on a consumer account to participate and your friend/family member must activate a TELUS postpaid consumer account.


Are corporate or business accounts eligible for the referral credit?

No. You and your friend/family member must be on a consumer account to participate.
